Dry glazing involves employing 
synthetic rubber and other 
elastomeric gaskets or tapes that 
necessitate compressive force to 
create an effective seal.
Structural Sealant Glazing depends on 
the adhesive characteristics of silicone 
sealants to bond glass to the framing 
system. Thermalbond® Structural Glazing 
Spacer Tape is employed in tandem with 
the structural silicone sealant, serving as 
a spacer for controlling joint dimensions 
while allowing air and moisture to reach 
the silicone for optimum curing.
Wet-Dry Glazing integrates the water-
resistant reliability of wet systems 
with the straightforward installation 
and appealing aesthetics of dry 
glazing. Typically, a pre-shimmed 
mastic tape is employed for the wet 
seal, while an elastomeric gasket is 
utilized for the dry seal.

Types of Applications Using Glazing Tapes and Gaskets
Conventional Glazing
Conventional glazing refers to the traditional method of installing glass in windows, doors, and other structures using materials like wet 
sealants, putty, glazing compounds, and metal or plastic glazing strips. This method typically involves setting the glass into a rabbet or 
groove in the frame and securing it in place with the chosen materials. 
Wet glazing employs gunnable sealants 
or mastic tapes that adhere to the glass, 
forming a secure seal against air and 
water infiltration. To enhance protection 
against leakage, a cap bead of gunnable 
sealant can be applied over shimmed 
mastic tapes.
